According to the Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers (Abrapa), Brazil will produce 2.71 million tons of cotton wool during the 2021/22 harvest, a 16.5% increase when compared to the previous season driven by an increase in the total planted area. The organization expects that the total planted area will reach 1.55 million hectares, a 13.5% increase.
According to Abrapa, Mato Grosso and Bahia are expected to produce 1.89 million tons and 563 thousand tons of cotton, respectively. Around 35% of the total harvested area in Bahia has already been planted. The organization also highlighted the fact that 60% of the harvest has already been sold.
