Balance of trade has surplus with soy boost

The results of the February export indexes had the highest numbers recorded since 2017. The 32% increase in grain exports, especially soy, is one of the factors that contributed to the current scenario, with sales totaling US$22.913 billion, while purchases reached US$18.863 billion. After facing a deficit in January, the balance of trade now accumulates a surplus of US$3.835 billion.

“There was an increase in prices and volume shipped in February, mainly of agricultural goods,” said the undersecretary of Intelligence and Statistics of the Foreign Trade Office of the Ministry of Economy, Herlon Brandão. The growth of soy exports was 187.5% + per the daily average, influenced by the early oilseed cycle.
