Before we talk about what these nomenclatures are, I’d like to introduce myself.
For those who do not know me or have me as a connection, my name is Matheus Tobias Fernandes, Agribusiness Manager focused on the sugar-energy sector. I started my career at a power plant 7 years ago, 2012, at CMAA – Vale do Tijuco Unit, in the Agricultural Automotive Maintenance, responsible for PCM (Maintenance Control and Planning), validation of field, base and external work orders, Availability Indicators, MT. After I moved to automotive tooling with the purchase of tools and search for solutions that would bring safety in the execution of mechanics. New tools, accessories and training to ensure correct use of PPE’s, etc.
Then in 2016 I was invited to be part of the Delta Sucroenergia S/A group. A consolidated power plant in the Brazilian and world scenario. Formerly Carlos Lyra group, I worked at the Volta Grande and Delta unit. Due to my knowledge in PCM, PSO, Mechanical Availability Tracking, Agro-Industrial Logistics and Supply Notion, my role was to implement in the CIA (Agricultural Intelligence Center), the monitoring of the Automotive Workshop group, such as opening and closing order (SAP) , availability reports and adherence of preventive, predictive maintenance and to-do resolution, the difference being comparing PIMS (Manfro) data with SOLINFTEC information.
That was when I started my career in AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY and AUTOMATION. After finishing the implementation, we proceed to the evaluation of the processes of cultural treatment. Process flow chart, fault identification and planning of how the CIA could show, measure and present deviations in the procedures of Herbicide, Fertilizer, Corrective and application of enriched “Pie”. Later we moved on to CCT process, reporting development (Daily Grinding, Production Awards, Managerial Hours, Operating Hours and the famous CDC). That was when I fell in love with this professional area. During the conclusion I had another opportunity to collaborate in the implementation of CIA at SJC Bioenergy, Joint Venture between Cargil and Usina São João, a big challenge that is still in progress, but enough talking, let’s get to the point …
CIA – Center for Agricultural Intelligence, or Agricultural Integration Center.
COA – Agricultural Operations Center.
Pentagon – Nomenclature of the same department named above, but with some crucial differences that I will mention below.
CSO – Operations Support Center.
All nomenclatures have the same basis of analyzing, monitoring and evidencing agricultural processes through embedded technology (Onboard Computer), where real-time notes are recorded and analysts can analyze the consistency of each note in relation to the operation performed at the moment. Through this, it is possible to understand if the resource sizing is in accordance with the needs, if the operation is performing as planned and if there is no deviation in the pre-established management/board procedures and clarified for the whole group.
What is the difference between these four sectors?
They are all identical, exist to analyze and monitor the processes and operational yields and can handle any deviation in real time. However, the Pentagon, considered as a reference in the sugar and alcohol operational monitoring sector, belongs to the Raízen Group. Established in Piracicaba, the Agro-Industrial programming analysts perform the entire traffic control, sugarcane logistics, operational performance evaluation and monitoring operations of all units located in the Brazilian territory. Such as CIA and COA.
The CSO is already a new highlight in the agricultural market. Initially launched by Colorado Machinery – John Deere dealership, today each dealership is deploying its CSO. They have the same function as the sectors mentioned above, but for the farmer who does not want or may not worry about investing in infrastructure, hiring manpower to monitor his fleet of machines with embedded technology, Auteq the dealership itself has this department providing this service to the producer. When I met the business model I was amazed. State-of-the-art technology available to any producer for a much lower price than structuring an industry.
