Throughout the year, SLC Agrícola, through the SLC Institute, will make donations to organizations that serve people in socially vulnerable situations in municipalities of the states where its farms, as well as its headquarters in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, are located. In all, associations, organizations and families from over 30 municipalities in seven Brazilian states will receive boxes of food staples. The SLC Institute made available 180 tons of food for this corporate social responsibility action.
The funds will be divided on three fronts: delivery of food staple boxes by the Social and Environmental Support Groups (GAS) at each SLC Agrícola Farm (R$640,000), direct donations of funds to social organizations (R$103,000) and food collection drives with the help of over 3,000 employees from the company, in partnership with the Food Bank of Rio Grande do Sul (approximately R$250,000). In all, a total of R$1 million in donations will be made.
The donations should be finalized by end-August. The first donations, made last month, benefited three organizations: two in Rio Grande do Sul (Marli Medeiros Cultural Center, located in the Bom Jesus district of Porto Alegre, and the Hip Hop Culture Association, located in Esteio), and one in Bahia (Bahia State Farmers and Irrigators Association – Aiba).
